After graduating from Stephen F. Austin State University in 1998 with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree and a Master of Professional Accounting degree, he began his career as an auditor with PricewaterhouseCoopers and obtained his CPA license in 2000.
During his career, Kerry has prepared, reviewed and audited accounting and financial information for large public SEC filers, private family-owned businesses and local churches, and he has obtained valuable experience using a large variety of accounting and related software programs, including SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, Sage, Quickbooks, Workiva and Blackline. Kerry’s accounting and consulting experience includes numerous SEC 10K/10Q filings (along with the related press releases, board packages, etc.), implementation of new FASB and SEC accounting regulations, financial reporting, technical accounting research, implementation and documentation of SOX processes and financial statement preparation. His experience includes accounting for transactions such as share-based compensation, hedge accounting, lease accounting and asset retirement obligations. He is also experienced in preparing financial analysis including the visualization of financial information through charts and graphs.
Excel Spreadsheets
During his career as an employee and consultant, Kerry has developed a passion for improving Excel spreadsheets to save time for his teams and clients. He has always enjoyed finding creative ways to use Excel to reduce the time needed to prepare financial statements, reports, journal entry calculations, financial analysis and charts. In many cases he has reduced processing time for these tasks from days or hours to hours or minutes, often reducing preparation time by 90% while improving accuracy and reliability. These process improvements have helped organizations meet tight deadlines, saving both time and money for his employers and clients.
Personal Background
Kerry has been married to his wife Wendy, a teacher, for 25 years and has three children. Both before and after deciding to pursue an accounting career, Kerry has performed as a musician in various musical ensembles, including military bands (U.S. Air Force/Air National Guard), college ensembles (wind ensemble, marching band) and local churches.
